Prof. Dr. G. Wennemuth
signaling in reproduction“All areas of signaling in reproduction are of interest to our group. We identify and characterize molecules important for spermatogenesis, early and late activation of sperm and cell-egg interaction. We also focus on cell-cell interaction in testis and prostate cells.”

Prof. Dr. R. Grümmer
molecular signaling in female reproduction“This project focuses on the cellular mechanisms in female reproduction and their dysfunction. This includes therapeutical approaches to endometriosis, gene regulation of feto-maternal interaction and oocyte development.”
-
PD Dr. H. Jastrow
electron microscopy“Transmission electron micoscopy is used to analyze the ultrastructure of all kinds of cells. This project also develops and maintains an online atlas of electron microscopy for students and researchers.”
-
Dr. B. Tötter
ion channels in reproduction“Ion- and proton channels are crucial molecules enabling sperm to regulate all of their key functions like motility, hyperactivation or sperm-egg communication. We identify with photometry which ion- and proton channels are present and how they work."

PD Dr. B.B. Singer
CEACAMs“This work deals with the role of CEACAMs in infection, inflammation and wound healing. We characterize the CEACAM mediated cell-cell and cell-pathogene communication, signaling and function. Monoclonal antibodies, biactive glycoproteins, celllines and mouse models are generated as tools.”

Dr. J. Dankert (Szczyrba)
microRNAs in cancer“microRNAs play an important role in post transcriptional regulation of the gene regulatory pathways of most cells. This project focuses on the importance of microRNAs for prostate cancer development and progression in animal models as well as in in-vitro experiments.”

Dr. M. Muschol
sperm physiology“Early activation is a key function in sperm. It leads to a fast and progressive motility. This project identifies and characterizes the factors that induce and/or influence early activation of sperm, like carbonic anhydrases and bicarbonate.”
